Project Overview

Russia’s massive attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure have left millions of people exposed to the harsh winter cold. In response, we and our local partners have launched a relief campaign to ease this urgent hardship. Acting quickly, directly, and transparently, we provide sources of warmth and light to support people affected by power and heating outages.

Ukraine update: Rising temperatures, lasting damage

Dear friends and donors,

👉 The good news is that temperatures in Ukraine are rising again. However, as spring slowly arrives, the humanitarian needs of those affected by the harsh winter remain urgent. Thanks to your support through our crowdfunding campaign, we have been able to implement numerous aid measures in Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kharkiv.

Nevertheless, the damage to the energy infrastructure will continue to affect Ukrainians for a long duration. We are therefore continuing our efforts and currently implementing the following measures, among others:

▪️ In partnership with X-Traverse, we are supporting a Kharkiv bakery so it can continue producing bread for humanitarian purposes. We are ensuring that baking operations can continue by providing diesel for a generator. Fresh bread is delivered to settlements near the front line, including to elderly individuals, individuals with disabilities, and individuals with limited mobility. The bakery is also a social project that offers internally displaced persons their first job in Kharkiv.

▪️ Generator for the hospital in the Dnipropetrovsk region: By the end of the week, a generator was to be delivered to a hospital in the Dnipropetrovsk region. In the future, it will provide the hospital with a steady power supply. The hospital provides daily healthcare for nearly 500 outpatients.

▪️ With our support, our partner AoS in Dnipro is setting up a mobile power supply unit. This will enable central infrastructures, such as hospitals, heating systems, and larger residential buildings, to be supplied with power flexibly during prolonged outages. The generators have already been procured, and a commercial vehicle is being purchased to make them mobile.

While we continue to provide relief supplies and generators with the help of our partners, a new and increasingly urgent challenge has emerged: rising fuel costs for generator operation.

However, we remain committed to helping those affected. Thank you very much for your support! 💛

Ukraine update: How we have already been able to provide relief from the cold

Dear friends and donors,

👉 Thanks to your support, our partners in Kyiv, Dnipro and Kharkiv have already implemented numerous relief measures and are now working on more. Although it is still cold outside, the emergency shelters that we have equipped with your help are warm places where people can warm up, eat a hot meal and charge their mobile phones to stay in touch with their loved ones. At a time when electricity and heating are not guaranteed, this makes a huge difference.

What you have already made possible together:

▪️The Mama-Mobil has reached 124 vulnerable people (including 104 internally displaced persons) in the city of Kharkiv and provided them with blankets, sleeping bags, and thermal mats.

▪️In Kyiv, families with two or more children have received gas or kerosene heaters to keep warm. In addition, 40 households have been equipped with power banks and electric blankets.

▪️53 emergency shelters in the Kharkiv region were equipped with food, gasoline for generators, gas cookers, etc. to provide a warm place and hot meals in the event of power and heating failures.

Winter is not over yet, so the damage to Ukraine's energy infrastructure will continue to affect its people for some time to come. We are therefore maintaining our presence and implementing the following measures:

▪️Generator for the hospital in Dnipropetrovsk: Emergency generators are currently in short supply in Ukraine and difficult to obtain. Our local partner has now found and purchased a suitable generator for the hospital in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Delivery is expected in the coming days.

▪️With our support, our partner AoS In Dnipro is currently setting up a mobile power supply unit to flexibly supply central infrastructure (hospitals, heating systems, larger residential buildings) with electricity during prolonged outages.

▪️The individual support service in Kyiv will remain in place for the time being. It is aimed at people with disabilities, elderly people with limited mobility, and parents with small children who have difficulty leaving their homes.

Please share the crowdfunding campaign with friends and acquaintances, on social media, or in your WhatsApp status. Every contribution counts.

Thank you very much! 💛

30,000 CHF against the cold: Thank you for your support!

Dear friends and supporters,

👉 We have raised CHF 30,000 to fight the cold in Ukraine!

On behalf of the LIBERECO team, our Ukrainian partners, and those affected, we would like to thank you very much for your support.

Thanks to your generosity, we are currently able to implement the following relief measures:

▪️ In the Kharkiv region, we are providing 53 emergency shelters with food, petrol, generators and gas cookers. These shelters provide warmth, electricity, meals and communication during power outages and attacks, and in some cases, those affected can also spend the night there.

▪️ In Kyiv, our local partner has set up an individual support service. This service is aimed at people with disabilities, elderly people with limited mobility, and parents with young children who find it difficult to leave their homes.

▪️ The 'Mama-Mobil' supports single parents and other vulnerable parents with young children in Kharkiv. Depending on their needs, they receive blankets, sleeping bags, thermal mats, and so on.

▪️ In the Dnipropetrovsk region, we are providing a hospital with a generator to enable it to provide basic medical services independently of the public power supply, even during power outages.

But winter is not over yet. The attacks continue — but so does our work. Please share the crowdfunding campaign with friends and acquaintances on social media or in your WhatsApp status. Thank you very much!
