Project Overview
We want to create a space where dance enthusiasts - professionals or amateurs - can meet and enrich the practice of their art through these exchanges. Thus, we wish to establish a dance studio in Geneva that which will serve as a meeting venue, host our activities - conferences, workshops - and will welcome in optimal conditions Romandie artists who need a place to create or rehearse.

Construction works about to start!!!
Dear Contributors,
It is with great pleasure we announce that construction works will kick off in the coming days! All needed authorizations have been obtained and contracts signed. We look forward to keeping you posted about the progress!

There is no doubt 2020 will be an eventful year for Akhtar! In addition to Extravadanza! second edition, committee members have been in touch with fabulous artists they would like to invite to teach a series of workshops in Geneva. We look forward to sharing the program with you soon!
Akhtar's social action will also start in 2020. Indeed, one of our goals is to make dance accessible for people for whom engaging in this this type of activities is difficult. Partnerships are currently being formalised and will enable dozens of children and adults from underpriviledged socio-cultural backgrounds to benefit from dance-related activities.

Back from holidays and to the project!
Dear Contributors,
We hope you had a wonderful summer break. It's back to work time for Akhtar: the project team came back rejuvenated from their holidays and more determined than ever!
The first site meeting took place at the beginning of the week. The work to be carried out as a priority has been determined and the companies to be commissioned have been selected. We have also started to acquire equipment - taps, tiles, tools. We are now waiting for the formal agreement of the owner of the premises before kicking off construction works. We are looking forward to it!
Goodies are being prepared/ coordinated and will be delivered in fall. In this regard, we are preparing a surprise for the next newsletter. A hint: the dinosaurs are on board too!
Finally, we are pleased to announce that the second session of our Extravadanza event! - we will do everything we can to make it become a must on Geneva scene - will take place on the weekend of the 6th and 7th June 2020. It will be structured around dance workshops and a performance.
We are continuing the fundraising campaign to raise the remaining amount needed to set up the studio he way we planned it. We should get answers from the foundationss we contacted within a few weeks, keep your fingers crossed with us!

Our first month of campain is over! 6,000 CHF have been raised to date thanks to the generosity of 62 people. We thank them all warmly! To celebrate this milestone, our dinosaurs have taken up the challenge of our Internet community by making a belly dance video, available on our YouTube channel.
Two of the co-founders of the Akhtar association were happy to present our non-profit dance studio project during a radio interview which will be podcasted and available on LibrAdio, Fréquence Banane and Audioblog ARTE websites. We will share the links on our Facebook page as soon as the podcast is posted.
Our campaign will come to an end in just two weeks. Visibility is crucial to maximize the chances of our realising our project. We therefore call on you to carry out these 3 actions:

Our crowdfunding campaign was launched just one day ago and we have already raised our first 1000 CHF ! Wow! What a splendid encouragement!
The Extravandanza, our launching event, went very well. We have gathered more than 30 dancers in a variety of styles: flamenco, oriental, bollywood, swing, tango, hula, gypsy, fusion, Tajik ...
