Through a journey of over 14,000 km by bike along the Atlantic coasts, Anouchka and Filip, a young couple of architects, reevaluate our society and search for new ways of being in the world. Their journey, guided by the ocean, reveals an encounter between land and sea where boundaries blur, fostering their inner quest. Traveling by bike means embracing slowness, simplicity, and facing unforeseen challenges like Covid and the sudden loss of a loved one.

Camping under the stars and discovering the world's beauty, they find harmony with their surroundings and inner peace. This film offers a reflection on what travel teaches us about life and invites personal introspection, without providing ready-made answers but enriching the spectator's reflection and emotion.

The art of slow travel
I am Anouchka Kaczmarek, a professional architect, amateur filmmaker, speaker, and practitioner of yoga and meditation, committed to the environment and always seeking personal growth. My partner, Filip Grebac, also an architect, shares my passion for adventure and nature, particularly through mountain hikes and bike journeys.

In 2020, we decided to change our lives by embarking on a bike journey along the European Atlantic coast, from Gibraltar to Nordkapp, guided by the ocean. The bike, a respectful and slow mode of transport, provides us with valuable autonomy and encourages spontaneous encounters.

For us, this journey is a total immersion in nature and an exploration of ways to be in the world. The guiding thread of our trip is the ocean, which becomes both a guide and a symbol of our personal evolution. Its role in our film is central, embodying both separation and unity, the invisible and the sacred, and reflecting our inner and outer quest.
The art of slow travel
In a society obsessed with speed and efficiency, we deliberately choose slowness and chance as a precious luxury. This way of life allows us to explore a different world where simplicity and sobriety bring deep fulfillment. By traveling across Europe without flying, we challenge traditional ideas of adventure and travel, often associated with distant destinations and airports.

We discover a variety of landscapes, from the arid south of Spain to the Irish bogs. We marvel at the small details and precious moments along our way. We believe that adventure is not just about physical challenges but also about inner quest. For us, adventure is primarily a personal exploration, beginning as soon as we step out of our comfort zone.

As the film progresses, my journey shifts from focusing on the external world to a deeply personal path. The experiences I encounter push me closer to myself. Encounters along the way act as mirrors, facilitating self-awareness and introspection. Immersion in nature enhances this inner exploration.
The art of slow travel
I undertook this journey to create a documentary film about my emotional journey, without knowing its exact form in advance. Curious about the impact of this adventure on myself, I discovered through torrential rains, fierce winds, scorching suns, and turbulent waves that nature is simply itself, neither good nor bad. Inspired, I also strive to simply be and to convey this feeling.

Traveling across Europe by bike along the Atlantic coast. Behind this seemingly ordinary goal, the viewer is drawn into much more than just a bike tour; they are part of a shift in the characters' worldview and are encouraged to question themselves.

This film is an ode to life, to the beauty of the world, and to the goodness within each of us. To what is beautiful to defend, to the hope that makes us vibrate, to what makes us profoundly human with our strengths and fragilities, to what connects us all.
