   Every edition of "Tanz im Rosengarten" has so far been produced under great pressure - organizationally, in terms of personnel and financially. With secure support, we want to plan ahead - also for everyone involved, consolidate structures, relieve work processes and with that create space for creative development instead of existential uncertainty.

   We want fair conditions for everyone involved: fees for artists, organizations and the non professionals. Our aim is to replace the countless unpaid hours that are not covered by conventional fundraising with fair payment. Because those who create culture deserve recognition - also financially.

   Tanz im Rosengarten should not only survive, but also continue to develop: artistically, structurally and ecologically. We want to try out new forms of collaboration, strengthen regional and national networking, promote young talents and take ecological responsibility in cultural production seriously. So that "Tanz im Rosengarten" remains a place of change, inspiration and community in the future.

What is it about?

What began in 2009 with Rena Brandenberger vision is now an established and popular open-air dance spectacle that offers a platform for both professional and non-professional dancers. The project has grown with every year - bigger audiences, more elaborate productions - but one thing has remained the same: a lot of heart and commitment from everyone involved. Tanz im Rosengarten brings people together - on stage and in the audience. We give dancers from all over Switzerland space for creativity, exchange and socially relevant expression - in the middle of Bern's idyllic Rose Garden. Our aim is to make dance an experience - accessible, moving and profound. Promoting culture has always been complicated, and it's not getting any easier. Behind Tanz im Rosengarten are countless hours of unpaid work by Rena Brandenberger, Anna Chiedza Spörri and all the people involved in the project: production managers, technicians, dancers, helpers - it takes strength and courage to believe in the project every time and to bring something great to the stage under precarious conditions. Now is the time for dance to be created in the Rosengarten under fair and dignified conditions. Otherwise we can not and will not be able to continue.

Lifeline

This campaign is a lifeline for Tanz im Rosengarten - and more than that, it is a reminder that art is a form of resistance in an increasingly authoritarian world. Anyone who would like to make a contribution to preserving one of the most beautiful dance projects in Bern's independent dance scene can support us through this campaign.


We are in need of support so that everyone can be paid fairly and the aspects that are not covered by state funding can be financed without compromising the quality or community aspect of the project, so that we can continue to live our values backstage.

Rena Brandenberger is a choreographer and dancer.

In addition to various engagements, her heart beats for the unique open-air dance productions in Bern's Rosengarten, which she founded in 2008. The idea and motivation behind these productions is, among other things, to offer Bernese and Swiss dancers an accessible stage and a fair production method in which they can participate and gain a first-hand insight into the creation and requirements of such a production.

We need support to be able to continue putting on these performances, which are also extremely popular with audiences.

Annakatharina Chiedza Spörri

Anna Chiedza Spörri is a movement artist, choreographer and creative activist. She has been co-directing Tanz im Rosengarten since 2022, where she is committed to accessibility, especially for dancers without formal dance training and with a Hip Hop or other dance background. From an understanding of intersectionality, she recognizes the urgent need to create structures that make marginalized voices visible and support them. For her, Tanz im Rosengarten is not just a stage, but a place for structural change - a space that not only allows artistic diversity, but actively enables it. For this reason, she is placing her trust in the project - and in you. Because only with your support can this important space be preserved.
