MDMD - Mapping Fiction

Of course, our project would not have been possible without the fundamental help of many people who have not been credited among the initiators. As to mention, a very important part of our project was Taien Ng-Chan. She is a multidisciplinary writer, artist and scholar in the Ph.D. in Humanities at Concordia University. Her work investigates everyday urban life through photography, cinema, poetry, and processes of mapping, often in interdisciplinary, multimedia contexts. Taien incorporates daily travel (from walking and riding the bus to bicycling and driving) as part of her art and research practice. Taien was part of our project until last year's fall when she had to take a decision and focussed on different ideas.

Most crucial to the sucess of our project is the work of Barbara Piatti and Sébastien Caquard. They are the academic end of our project, created the cartomentarian axis Zurich-Montréal and provided profound support of knowledge, infrastructure and funding through their institutions. Barbara holds a PhD in literary studies while Sébastian is an assistant professor at Concordia University in Montréal. Together they initiated this project and had the idea of creating the cartomentary.

The project involves a close collaboration with and is supported by the Institute of Cartography and Geoinformation, ETH Zurich, Concordia University, Montréal, and the Commission on Art & Cartography of the International Cartographic Association.
