Dear blackbird family - we hope you've had a fantastic start to the new year? It's almost beginning to feel a bit like spring. At least during the day, when the sun is shining in the blue sky and the temperatures are bearable for a few hours. Or when birds are chirping again early in the morning. So we too are slowly returning from our winter hibernation.
What's next? Exactly; house hunting. Our blackbird needs a nest. Anyone a bit familiar with Züri knows how difficult it is to find a place to live here. And unfortunately, we've had to realise in the last few months that things are not much better when it comes to finding affordable commercial space.
In September 22 we last applied for a property. It was in a great location between Lochergut and Idaplatz - and AFFORDABLE (2800.-/month). Unfortunately, it didn't work out then - and since, hardly anything similarly interesting has come our way. Although Covid has freed up a lot of office space, it is still ...welll... office space. And often in districts 1 + 2 with rents from 10,000.-/month upwards.
But who knows; maybe one of you has good relations to the city administration? Or to housing cooperatives? Maybe you'll see, hear or smell something in the next few weeks that could fit the bill? It could also be something more alternative. Maybe an old garage, a fire station, a pub, a ballet school, a flower shop?
Of course we will keep our eyes open as well. And we'll be happy to tell you more as soon as something happens on the location front.
Best wishes - and take some time tomorrow to blink into the blue sky and enjoy the sun on your face. The first signs of spring feel soooo good.
Your blackbirds
