‘Affordable Primary Healthcare for Makoko’
In the absence of conventional medical facilities of any kind, the “Health Champions“ bear the responsibility of caring for the health needs and wellbeing of the people of Makoko especially of pregnant women and children. These are the traditional healers and traditional Birth attendants. ‘Forces on ground’ aims at the education and training of the Health Champions in matters of hygiene, simple diagnostic procedures and emergency recognition in order among others, to reduce the high rate of maternal mortality.
