Project Overview

For almost a quarter of a century, bee-flat has stood for concert culture. From big names to the most "our there" experiments, we present music with fire, always international and always in the centre of Bern. Now it's hitting us too: we have a deficit. And we have to plug this hole in order to be able to continue organising concerts. In addition to internal restructuring and savings, we now also need Bern and all bee-flat fans!

Für Familien: Behind the Scenes Tour + Familienkonzerteintritt

Für alle zwischen 6-12: Als kleine "Assistent*innen" nimmt unsere Vermittlerin Julia ein bis zwei Kinder mit in ihren Tag an einem Kinderkonzert. Eltern sind auch erlaubt, okay.. ;) Ab dem Mittag zeigt Julia Euch den Backstage, erklärt, wie sie sich vorbereitet, ihr dürft den Soundcheck mitverfolgen - kurzum: Für alle, die wissen wollen, was zu einer Konzertproduktion gehört, ist das das Goodie to Order!

Family Concert: ARBRE in your living room!

The bee-flat crew is organising a concert in your living room or garden in the afternoon: We're coming with the Bernese band ARBRE, we'll bring the equipment and technicians and you can invite all your friends.

The Bernese collective ARBRE sounds bigger than it is. With their expansive sonic realm somewhere between jazz and alternative music, Mélusine Chappuis, Paul Butscher and Xavier Almeida continue to find their way onto a number of stages in Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Austria and the Czech Republic. Yes, the list of places and countries seems impressive for the band’s short history (starting 2021), but what’s more important is solidarity. Everything, yes: everything is decided collectively, and the shared creative process is the focus point of their work. The being there, the growing, the change and the coming together. The music on their first album “Lunaires” was called atmospheric jazz. Now, on their second album “Mes épaules seront rivières” (Neuklang Records) what we hear is more defiant, has more sobriety to it. Still, there is this ARBRE-sound: big, wide, three-dimensional, and intertwined. With great love for the detail of sound, for long arcs and for each other.

Backdoor Session: BUREAU BUREAU in your living room!

The bee-flat crew organises a concert in your living room or garden in the afternoon: We come with the band BUREAU BUREAU, bring equipment and technicians and you can invite all your friends.

BUREAU BUREAU (Michael Cina (dr), Sonia Loenne (voc), Alvin Schwaar (keys)) play experimental music with a focus on lyrics.

Three people produce around forty different sounds, interweave them, are loud and wild and unpredictable, throw lyrics around - but are real Softies at heart. Spoken word meets pop meets free improvisation. Somehow experimental music that is especially liked by people who don't like experimental music. Or theatre.

Meet & Greet with Mario Batkovic

Mario Batkovic invites you to his notorious basement studio in Bern's old town. How does he rehearse? How does he understand sound? What is he currently working on? You can ask all these questions and more in the spot, and at the same time save bee-flat's bum with your support. And maybe Mario will even play something? You never know, unless... :)

Backdoor Session: Björn Meyer in your living room!

We're bringing the PROGR's (and Bern's, let's be honest) real favourite base to your home! And there's a concert too! The bee-flat crew will come to you with Björn Meyer, equipment, sound engineer and host and you can invite all your friends!

BJÖRN MEYER grew up next to a piano near Stockholm, learned to play the trumpet in the Swedish youth music programme, sang in a boys' choir and played guitar in local garage rock bands. Shortly before his eighteenth birthday, he came into direct contact with the electric bass at a jam session. These first notes, played on an instrument he had left behind, opened the door to an irresistible, resonant universe of sounds.

After completing his master's degree in computer science and engineering, he decided to ‘take a year off’ and pursue his passion for the bass - a year that has continued uninterrupted since 1989.

Is your piano slowly gathering dust? Or you want to hear what's possible on it?

Yes, you read that right: Colin Vallon, *the* Colin Vallon, is coming to you and playing a quasi-Tiny Desk solo concert for you. The pianist, composer and teacher has already released five albums with his trio - three of them on the ECM label.

Colin Vallon reaches for the heart of things with just a few notes ; his melodies reveal a rare and detached beauty. Vallon is capable not only of sensitive discreteness but also of flamboyant exuberance, his improvisations are marked by their wealth of ideas and their stringency. The way he connects a basic lyrical idea with investigative determination is unaffected and touchingly breathtaking.

We bring hosting, equipment and technician and you can invite all your friends. Thank you Colin for your support! Yay!
