Project Overview
Miche Bora is the name of the school in Mombasa, Kenya, and it means "wonderful sprouts" in Swahili. And that's precisely what it's all about: giving children the best start in life, even in environments where growing up can be challenging. Much has already been accomplished at this primary school, but now, two new classrooms and the land on which they are to be built are urgently needed to continue helping as many children as possible.

"Miche Bora" means "Wonderful Sprouts" in Swahili. With this project, I would like to help the children of Miche Bora Primary School, located in an impoverished neighborhood in Mombasa, Kenya, to flourish. The school was founded by an English couple who have dedicated their hearts and souls to this project since 2009. Through their foundation (https://mustardseedproject.co... they have built a school building that enables three hundred children to receive a good education and have two meals a day at school, which for many of them are their only meals.
Recently, the school system in Kenya has changed, and primary school now ends after the sixth grade instead of the eighth grade as it used to be. This means that for many children who cannot afford to continue their studies, school ends at the age of eleven instead of thirteen. This is way too early, they are still children!
However, we can make a difference here: near the school, there is a field currently rented for sports activities and as a playground. If Mustardseed could manage to purchase this land for Miche Bora Primary school, we could help them build two additional classrooms and keep the children in secondary school for two more years.

Although the Mustardseed Foundation does a lot for the school, it is currently facing difficulties in covering all the expenses. Due to inflation and a challenging political situation, their current priority is to provide food for the children, which has become very expensive. That's why I want to do everything I can to support them and help maintain and expand the school.
The land costs 3 million Kenyan Shillings, which is approximately $20,000. The owner is willing to sell it to the first person who can provide the money. This is, of course, an opportunity that cannot be missed because if the land were to go to someone else, not only would we lose the opportunity to keep the children there for two more years, but we would also lose the sports field. There might even be difficulties in functioning as a school without an outdoor area for physical education.
This cannot happen. Since I returned from my volunteering experience at the school this summer, I have made it my goal to help the school, its wonderful children, and their teachers. They need our support to overcome these significant challenges.

The new semester begins in January, and it would be essential to start as early as possible so that the children who are currently completing their sixth year can seamlessly continue their education. New teachers will also need to be hired.

If the funds we raise unfortunately do not suffice to complete the project, they will still be donated to the school to cover all its ongoing expenses: food, uniforms, shoes, teaching materials, teacher salaries, electricity, and so on.

This summer, I had the opportunity to visit Miche Bora School in Kenya as a volunteer teacher. With the children in my mind and heart, I now want to do something for them that can concretely help them in their future.
