This project is a "proof of concept" short fiction film called Le Monde de Selma, or Selma's world. SYNOPSIS Selma is a frustrated young woman who, after receiving yet another complaint from a customer at work, must reassess her life choices and confront her mother with the help of her best friend.

Le Monde de Selma is an intimate short film that captures the raw, universal struggle of finding one’s voice in the midst of frustration, difficult circumstances, and self-doubt.
At its heart is Selma, a young woman stuck in the monotony of a job that drains her spirit. When she receives yet another complaint from a customer, it becomes the final straw—a sign that forces her to question the path she has chosen. With the encouragement of her best friend Raveena, Selma finds the courage to confront her mother in order to claim her future.

This story is not just about Selma—it is about all of us who have ever felt unseen, unheard, or trapped in lives we did not choose. It is about the invisible battles fought by people balancing societal expectations, family pressures, and the quiet yearning for a better future.
Women aged 18 to 35 will relate to the specific emotional struggles of Selma and Raveena, and I believe that young people in general will appreciate Selma's personal development. This short film should also appeal to those who enjoy intimate, complex, and character-driven narratives.

The total budget for this short film is 6'500 CHF. It is partially funded by the Engelberts Foundation as well as the association Les Trois Petits Points, however your donation helps cover essential production costs and contributes to ensuring acceptable working conditions. We need your support to rent equipment, cover travel costs, provide compensation for cast and crew etc. We are commited to telling Selma’s story with the visual depth, emotional nuance and artistic quality it deserves. Director
Laure Bruttin is a Swiss-Irish filmmaker who graduated in direction from Prague Film School in 2023. Her work focuses on intimate stories featuring women. She tackles themes such as workplace abuse and female friendship in her short films.
Her motivation for this project was to bring to life a complex female character who owns her story.
