Delightful food waste reduction - by wood & field


In the beginning there was the own need for a convenient snack that tastes good and gives energy for our busy everyday life. Ready-to-drink protein shakes seemed to be the perfect products. But none of them satisfied our requirements: way too sweet, with a too heavy texture and too artificial. And no trace of sustainability and transparency.
We quickly realized: Not only we have this problem! And with our many years of experience in the food industry and a lot of enthusiasm, we decided to take matters into our own hands. First in our own kitchen, but at the beginning of 2018 we found a sympathetic and professional production partner.
After a year of development, our idea is finally ready for the market - and with your support we would be able to produce ready-to-sell shakes for the first time this fall. So that not only we, but soon you and all of Switzerland, too, can enjoy our product.
Now, before the first production, we need to make an investment that we can no longer afford to pay all alone: almost CHF 10,000 for packaging material, printing and raw materials - for one of the two varieties (voll Beeri). Everything we collect above the collection goal brings us closer to be able to produce the second variety (voll Mocca) as well. And to reduce even more food waste!
We use fresh Swiss whey for our shakes, which contains valuable whey protein.
Whey is a big topic regarding food loss in Switzerland. Every year around 1.3 million tonnes of whey accrue as by-products in cheese production. Around ¾ of it is wasted. We bring Swiss whey back into the human diet, in a pleasurable way.
Our production partner is the Liechtensteiner Milchhof in Schaan around the managing director Josef Schuler.

Should the first regular production be delayed much further, we will ensure that you get an equivalent alternative (original product, but possibly in a different packaging) - at the latest in November 2018.

Together with my colleague Janice I founded our startup wood & field. I'm the food and innovation professional, and I'm 100 percent dedicated to product and business development.
Already in my youth I liked to stand in the kitchen and cook for guests. Later, I combined my passion for food with the urge for knowledge and made it a profession, studied at ETH Zurich and became a food engineer.
At wood & field, I mainly focus on analyses and insights around market and clients, on strategy development, as well as on marketing and finance.
I am also enthusiastic about enjoyable and tasty food and drinks, however, in everyday life it has to be fast and convenient. After several years in the ICT industry, I switched to the food industry and quickly realized that this is where great, sustainable products for consumers can be developed.
