Project Overview

After four years of intensive music production, the post-production and pressing of my most significant solo album are now approaching. The final touches are set to take place at the legendary Abbey Road Studios – marking a kind of journey to a place of longing for me, both as a passionate music fan and as a sound engineer. In addition to many fantastic goodies, a half-day in the mastering session in London will be raffled among all supporters.

On to the last quarter.

Dear supporters,

We've achieved more than 75%. I am overwhelmed. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your contribution and, above all, for believing in me and this project!

By a stroke of luck, I learned that the Abbey Road Studios (in Room 6) still cut master discs as they always have. (So the original vinyl record, from which robust stampers are made in an elaborate process in the galvanic, which are then used to press records.) I don't want to miss this opportunity, so I'm adding another day to the planned stem mastering session so that the double vinyl album is also cut in London. Yes, in the same room where The Dark Side Of The Moon was cut in 1973, and with the same cutting machine (see photo) as the newly mixed version of Revolver released in 2022.

But more than the music itself, which was processed at the location, the history of music reproduction development within Abbey Road Studios is incredibly impressive and unique. Especially during the war years, a large part of Abbey Road Studios resembled more of a research center, where, for example, vinyl cutting techniques (including by Alan Blumlein) were fundamentally researched and developed.

Since the first goodies are sold out, I have now uploaded two new ones for the final sprint:
(Of course, it is possible to upgrade/expand your existing goodie. Just write me an email at: ramon@nomar.ch)

BlaBlaCar: Bern - London / London Bern (2 x 2 seats)
Due to material transport but also simply for the sake of adventure, I want to take the journey from Bern to London by car in the fall. And for both ways, two seats are still available. (One trip with the car transporter through the Eurotunnel underground there, the second trip then with the ferry across the English Channel back.)

Magic, Vertigo, Dream - Try Outs (2 public bookings)
Before our concert tour in 2025, we need to gather more player experience and explore unconventional performance venues with our multidisciplinary improvisation concept. Because: A performance within the tour should be possible at any location; we don't want to be limited by technical or spatial infrastructure but rather seek appropriate solutions for each venue! In this spirit, our show can be booked for a public try-out in the summer/fall of 2024. (see Video Trailer.)

I sincerely thank all of you for sharing the link to the crowdfunding in your networks during this final stretch. It is incredibly valuable.

I'll be in touch soon.

Warm regards,
Ramon

The halfway point has been reached!

Dear supporters,

With great joy, I am pleased to announce that we have already achieved 50% of our goal! While I have no prior experience with crowdfunding, I have a strong feeling that we are on the right track!

For the past few days, I have listed two items under "Sourcing" in the project. I am searching for an instrument for recording purposes, as well as accommodation in London for the duration of my mastering session at Abbey Road Studios in the autumn.

The MELLOTRON is a unique musical instrument that is perhaps best known for its prominent appearance in the intro of "Strawberry Fields Forever" by The Beatles. The MELLOTRON is a keyboard instrument that does not strike strings but rather plays tape loops (at the appropriate pitch through playback speed). I would love to replace the (thus far) digitally simulated instrument (in two of my pieces) with a recording of a real Mellotron. The problem: Due to its incredibly delicate construction, a fully functional instrument has become exceedingly rare. According to all assumptions, there are likely only very few well-sounding instruments left. In this regard: If you have any ideas, or know someone who might... I would then visit the person with my mobile recording setup and make the recordings on site. I sincerely thank you for sharing this link: www.crowdify.net

Here is a video of the MELLOTRON: www.youtube.com

And the same goes for accommodation in London, of course: Perhaps your friend, aunt, or partner lives very close to Abbey Road... northwest of the City Center of London. You can easily share the link here: www.crowdify.net

A heartfelt thank you to all of you for your generous support and for sharing the project with interested parties.

I will gladly provide you with new updates soon.

Warm regards and with great excitement,
Ramon

The first Third - Concert this Friday, April 5th.

Hooray! After just under a week of runtime, the first third is accomplished!
A heartfelt thank you very much to all supporters for the generous support - and also for believing in me and this project! Without you, none of this would be possible!

This Friday, April 5th, my 7-member interdisciplinary group "Magic, Vertigo, Dream." will perform at the "Kometa Festival of the Arts" (in Burgdorf). The basis is my music, which will be varied in an improvised manner and expanded with performance and projection. It's the second live concert and serves as a kind of try-out. To release the album in 2025, we want to be solid so that we can embark on a concert tour.

More information on this as well as on the further development with crowdfunding and record production will follow...

I'm hugely grateful for your forwarding of the crowdfunding to vinyl freaks, audio enthusiasts, and other potentially interested parties.

Warmest regards and in great excitement,
Ramon
