Hi! I’m Ivan, a Vienna-based artist. I am asking you to support my participation in the Florence Biennale to which I was already invited. It is one of the most recognized international art exhibitions taking place in Oct 2023. Not only is it a prestigious event that attracts artists from around the world, it also provides a platform to showcase my work to a global audience. For me, Florence is the birthplace of Renaissance and a key inspiration!

Colour palette, unique
Those who know me or my way of working may find these palettes interesting. When creating an oil painting, I as an artist need a wooden palette on which the required colours are mixed until the desired nuance or shading is achieved. During the creation of the painting, the colours used are applied layer by layer on the palette, mixed and allowed to dry. If you look closely, you may be able to see which picture was painted with them.

In a way, the palette represents the history of the painting, similar to the way a sedimentary rock represents the different geological periods.

(All palettes differ a little, as they are unique).

"A Walk in September", tracing paper, unique, 44/49cm
You will receive a the tracing paper ("the cardboard") of “A walk in Sepember”, which is the preparatory drawing with which the contours of the picture are transferred to the canvas.

It is remarkable that although the cardboard actually already represents the idea of the final picture, there are always deviations in the final creative process with the paint, so that in the end, the picture and the tracing paper are not completely identical.

In essence, it is a unique piece of art itself.

You will receive one of my originals, namely "Halloween", which was created in 2009, oil on wood, 50/60cm.

At first glance a still life, "Halloween" plays with the contrasts between beauty and the finiteness of life. A joyous festival, which is supposed to take the horror out of our lives through celebration and abundance. The numerous elements in "Halloween" lose their characteristics; who recognises the fat dwarf in the shiny vegetables and golden fruits?
