A friend of the Oriental Dance Community asked me to give her an interview about my work with Douban Dance Company. The result is an article about their history, ideology and goals. She is an active member of a platform that regularly reports about culture from the Arab world. All writers work - just like her - on their own initiative ...

Finally the dates for the premier of the show are out: 2. August in Jerusalem and 4. August in Ramallah. I'll keep you informed - because any changes can be possible!

Thanks again to all for your support!
The crowdfunding was finished very successfully and I was allowed to collect more than planned and I am grateful to you all!
I'm back since the 4th of January. The choreography is completed and 10 dancers (5 male / 5 female) from Jerusalem and the West Bank are able to dance it. They will now practice until the premiere (presumably beginning of March) and then perform the piece as part of the full-length show "Salal". I will keep you informed about the premiere date.

Dear supporters,

Yesterday I received my timetable and the short descriptions of the dancers. Most are between 16 and 23 years old and come from different corners of Palestine. The company wants to "cross borders" for the production and to bring together dancers from different regions of Palestine on stage. Although this is a wonderful idea, it means that we can never rehearse together with the whole group because the dancers who come from Bethlehem have no permits to travel to Jerusalem. This complicates matters and means that we have to travel to Bethlehem several times. Traveling in Palestine means crossing checkpoints, leaving and returning in time and loosing precious rehearsal time. Such difficulties are "all day situations" in Palestine and I try to counter them with serenity.

Dear supporters, I am still overwhelmed by the positive response of my call. Already last night at 23.57 I achieved the desired sum thanks to your spontaneous and generous commitment. Everything that has come to this, is of course also welcome! It is not only a financial support for me, but also a great, moral encouragement, which gives courage and strength to travel again to the crisis area and to affront once again the challenge, which brings such a place with it. Thanks especially to the anonymous donors, which I could not contact personally. Mirjam
