Conventional and vegan. We want to make cheese in Basel. We are bringing the cheese back to town! Nobody makes handmade, exceptional cheese from organic milk from really happy cows or plant-based. We want to change that. Support the project if you want to enjoy special cheese and discover new things. And if you want to shop super local and support good livestock farming.

Funding goals

    As a first step, we would like to buy the most necessary inventory in order to set up a real cheese dairy with a maturing room in a suitable location in Basel.

  2. Stage 2:

    In a second step, equipment such as a large cheese kettle, cheese molds, etc. must be purchased. This also includes a maturing container with refrigeration technology and a maturing rack for the cheese.

If we exceed our funding amount, we will put the money into the opening of another location in Basel. So you have an additional location to experience our cheese with all your senses.

Our target group are all connoisseurs, cheese enthusiasts, local buyers and animal welfare supporters.

Our cheese is something special and a piece of creative art. We use the best organic milk. We work according to traditional methods - by hand, but in the middle of the city.

And we want to achieve all this with happy cows.

The important thing about Stadtkäserei Basel is that you can experience all the steps of cheese production. You can visit Lukas & Daniela and his family at the organic dairy farm Margarethengut and see how the cows are kept, what fodder they eat and understand everything that goes into agriculture.

In the Stadtkäserei Basel you can look through large windows of glass into the cheese production process and, for example, use all your senses to perceive the aromas of the region and get to know new combinations during an evening of indulgence. Here you will learn which beer and which wine goes best with the different types of cheese and learn everything about milk as a raw material and artisan cheese production. Of course you can also take all the products home with you.

BE SUPER LOCAL

We have extremely short distances. Serdar, our master cheese maker, processes the organic milk from the farmers Lukas & Daniela, just a few hundred meters from the farm. Because we don't want our food to be transported all over Switzerland. That's good for everyone - the suppliers, the raw materials, the cheese and the environment.

That's why our organic milk comes from really happy cows. The cows get a lot of affection and can practically always go outside during the growing season. All cows live in a BTS (particularly animal-friendly cowshed) certified cowshed.
