Project Overview

Help two emerging choreographers pay their dancers! For our first dance production "Sound of Violence", which puts a new focus on the topic of domestic violence, we seek supporters to help us collect enough to pay the recommended amount to our dancers. In this field we often have to work for a minimal salary or "for the experience". With your help we can make sure to pay what our dancers deserve!

"Sound of Violence"

Hi,
We are Laura and Paula. We are newcomer choreographers and this year we founded "GingerPack Contemporary Dance" to realize our first evening-long performance.

In co-production with tanzinwinterthur we have the chance to develop a new performance which will be premiered on the 27th Nov 2025 at Tanzfestivel WInterthur. Our piece "Sound of Violence" will deal with the topic of domestic violence.

Despite the support of the City of Winterthur, the Canton of Zurich, the Anne Marie Schindler Foundation, and the Elisabeth Weber Foundation, our budget is still not sufficient to pay for enough rehearsals at fair wages. This is our greatest ambition and the non-negotiable base for fair structures in our team.
With crowdify we aim to collect 1260 CHF, which is the recommended salary for one week of dance rehearsals, including social security contributions.

We are searching for supporters to help us realize this important project!
"Sound of Violence"

In the process of production we are getting to know everything it takes to put a performance on stage: First of all it takes a lot of money. Especially if the goal is fair pay. This is our greatest goal.
In our line of work we see underpayment and budget cuts to the disadvantage of dancers and choreographers on a daily basis. The people sweating in rehearsals, working out choreographies and bringing ideas to life, are often the ones with the smallest paychecks.

We want to do it right from the beginning and pay our dancers what they deserve.

For one week of rehearsals the fair amount to pay one dancer is 1260 CHF. This is a lot of money for young choreographers given the circumstances. Please help us with your support to realize our project with fair pay!

With this campaign we aim to generate enough money to pay one of our dancers in the rehearsal period.

There will be four people on stage and so many more backstage. Any amount that exceeds our goal will go into paying everybody on and off stage (music, costumes etc.) and to give our boosters back special Goodies!
"Sound of Violence"

In "Sound of Violence" dance and live-music are used to raise awareness on the topic of domestic violence and its indicators.

It is a topic connected to silence. Our piece is going to break this. Silent actions will be audible, silent victims will be heard.

To archive this, we are working with motion capture technology. Sensors connected to the moving bodies detect their movement and translate it into sound. The performance in three acts depicts different qualities of movement and choreography in symbiosis with the soundscape.

We hope to open up a new way of looking at and understanding victims of domestic violence.

No explicit violent act will be shown on stage. Instead we present abstract images and focus on the path of movements and the interpretation of choreographic elements.

"Sound of Violence" wants to take a step into the direction of early recognition of violence. Because it does not only start witch a smack in the face or a bruise on the skin.
"Sound of Violence"

We are professional dancers and choreographers but we started out as passion-driven dancers with big visions and wishes. We want to give a little something back to the performance scene that has always been our home and safe space.

We have been creating short performances together since 2023. All of our pieces have one thing in common: They are never just pretty dance and nice entertainment.

Our pieces always deal with topics that move us mentally and make us want to move physically: toxic masculinity, the brutalization of society and the inner battle with one's self.

We are very excited to be given the chance to produce our first ever evening-long dance performance.
