Funding goals

1. Stage 1:

   2.500 CHF

   100% funded

   If you help us reach the first stage through the preselling of the “goodies”, we can start producing the first designs and test how our products are received. The money would be used to buy the materials, cover the shipping costs as well as provide a small income for the artists and producers.

2. Stage 2:

   5.000 CHF

   100% funded

   If you help us reach the second stage, we can work on more designs, try out more materials (different colors and fabrics), as well as setting up a webpage.

3. Finish Stage:

   10.000 CHF

   4% funded

   If you help us reach the final stage, we are able to also start working on other products like scarfs, warming bottles, t-shirts or drawings on shoes. Furthermore, it would allow us to really build the capacity for starting a small business and even include more people.
   Everything that exceeds the final stage would help us to stabilise and scale the project, which would mean that this could create a secure income for the artists involved.
   

Project description of s*heART

With s*heART we would like to realise a project that combines many aspects that are close to our heart. While using methods we are passionate about like art, arabic calligraphy, embroidery and sewing we would like to depict and discuss topics that we care for:
gender, LGBTQI+, peace, social change, intercultural understanding and the care for animals and the environment.

For a beginning and for testing our idea, we would like to print and embroider the following designs on bags, pillows and covers, seeing where we can develop further from here later.

With supporting our crowdfunding campaign and buying one of our products you enable us to work on the things we love to do. Furthermore, you help mitigate the financial difficult situation of Syrian artists in Lebanon.

How the idea of s*heART developed:

The idea of s*heART started by us sitting in the living room, crafting artistic bags imagining people wearing them reflecting within their community about the strong messages. The situation for Syrians in Lebanon, especially for artists, is shaped by many constraints. Apart from various forms of (structural) racism - one of them is that they are not allowed to work legally in art, the situation has worsened through the current economic crisis, the explosion in Beirut last year and the current pandemic - making it almost impossible to find any kind of work. As the personal financial situation aggravated, the idea developed into a concrete project. And here we are, trying to realise the dream. :-)

Lisa Marti

Lisa is a Swiss social activist working on intercultural understanding and gender and is committed to contribute to a more peaceful and just world. She currently lives in Beirut and in her free time she likes to do Arabic Calligraphy and volunteering for social change. She is always enthusiastic about learning new things and starting new projects.

Shadi Al-Aiek

Artist, designer, producer

Shadi is a Syrian artist based in Beirut due to the conflict in Syria and he is focusing on using art for social activism and especially for LGBTQ+ and gender equality. He is ambitious and always enthusiastic about everything related to art and social justice amplifying voices that are hidden in the Middle East.

Hamza Harirri

Beirut, CH

Artist, Graphic designer

Hamza has graduated from the fine art faculty at the University of Damascus with specialisation in graphic design. He is based in Lebanon and is engaged as a social activist and volunteer in projects that support refugees, especially living in camps. His art focuses on natural or humanitarian disasters around the world and he is particularly interested in working on children and and women rights in conflicting countries, because they are most affected by the war.
