Project Overview
Pizokel is, for a rowing boat, an old man with nearly 50 year on his back! Because of age related damages, we have to say goodbye. In our section of popular sport Pizokel was activly used for rowing trips and also in the occupational field and went through multiple restorations. Now it came to it's end and we are seeking a modern replacement. Because of Covid-19 the club had to close, a lot of incomes are missing, so there are no funds available!

Besides the boathouse, rowing shells are some of the most important things of a rowing club! What is a crew without a boat?!
Rowing shells are extremely expensive, that's the reason why our club is trying to row the shells as long as possible but also takes care and maintains our shells.
Our “Pizokel” was an extremely popular boat. On one hand light and racy on the other hand stable and of good-nature.
In the intermediate run it was clear that we will not be able to row our “Pizokel” for much longer, since the cost of repairs are more trouble than are worth it. Then last year, there was the moment were the break of a wash-strake happened and this was the sad moment to say: this boat we aren't able to row any longer!
We just renovated our boathouse in 2019, where should we find the money for a new double?! So we desperately waited for 2020 and hoped, by then we will be able to have the financial resources to buy a new shell. You all know how the story continuous: ...and then Covid-19 came!!!
But this shouldn't be the end of the story. We as a team will fight and leave nothing undone that our dream, to have a new double shell for at least the rest of the season, still can come true!
That's the reason why we did start this crowdfunding.

Ruderclub Blauweiss Basel

The rowing club Blauweiss is one out of three rowing clubs in Basel and has 220 members.
We do row on the river Rhein between the two weirs Basel and Augst, this is our territory!
In 2019 the club had to implement the renovation of the whole boathouse, including the clubhouse.
The boathouse and the whole infrastructure are in great conditions. Those together are building the basis of the entire club and over the past years were achieved and thoroughly cared.

Chefin Breitensport des RC Blauweiss Basel
Rudern ist eine fantastische Sportart, die man bis ins hohe Alter ausüben kann. Die Mitglieder im Breitensport des RC Blauweiss sind im Alter von anfangs 20 bis über 80, die fit, aktiv und begeistert rudern, die generationenübergreifend im gleichen Boot sitzen, sich füreinander und den Club engagieren.
Dass das stark genutzte Boot Pizokel ausgerechnet zu Beginn der Hauptsaison unseres Umbaujahres 2019 einen so starken Materialschaden erlitt, dass das Boot nicht mehr ruderbar ist, war eine ziemliche Einschränkung für den Ruderbetrieb. Die Nachbeschaffung für 2020 ein festes Ziel. Doch durch die Clubschliessung und den Ausfall von Einnahmen wird das Clubbudget auch im 2020 so eingeschränkt sein, dass eine Anschaffung aus dem Clubvermögen heraus nicht möglich ist.
Dennoch wollen wir uns den Mut nicht nehmen lassen - und versuchen die Anschaffung nun über ungewohnte Wege zu realisieren.
