Funding goals

  1. Stage 1:

    15.000 CHF

    29% funded

    Here we go.
With 15k, we can already do our first shoppings for simple decorationsy coffee machines, have enough resources for advertisements and get rid of existing furnishments.

  2. Stage 2:

    50.000 CHF

    0% funded

50k enables us to do constructural measures such as redecorate/upgeade our bar and make adjustments at the ventilation systems.

  3. Stage 3:

    80.000 CHF

    0% funded

With this amount we can get down to serious business. We now can do most purchases such as buying special anime furniture and decoration, fill our storage with more diverse drinks and
    get constructural measures approved.

  4. Finish Stage:

    150.000 CHF

    0% funded

All in. Apart from furniture, we would also try to install private karaoke rooms, improve the pos system, get some special bar equipments and have the means to compensate our staff better for the first months; there are also other expenses we can cover with this such as the fee to take over the existing location. In addition to this we would like to invest in organizations for events and competitions.

Just imagine: you’re in Japan. It’s Friday evening and you want to go out.

Another culture means differnenz people and different types of having fun. You enter a bar and you are welcomed by an atmosphere that you have not experienced in Europe yet. A new type of nightlife. Imagine, a young Japanese server in a cute cosplay that resembles a heroic figure from your childhood greets you. She asks you sweetily about your drink of choice. Imagine the people around you love this experience just as much as you, as everybody can simply be themselves. The bar is filled with people that sing karaoke; the walls are decorated with paintingd and posters of Pikachu, Son Goku, Naruto or Ruffy. You are excited about all these impressions; the service with cosplays and seeing heroic figures from your childhood (maybe you still have a figure you love ro this day like us), displayed as posters, or action figures. You find yourself surrounded by people that vibe the same way as you and you can exchange your thoughts with them or sinply enjoy the whole atmosphere as you dig in fun authentic Japanese food.

If you haven’t experienced this kind of feeling before, or you’ve visited Japan a long time ago and want to relive some of the crazyness (in a good way) again, here comes your chance. It’s time to open the first anime manga café bar in Switzerland and let you experience the modern culture of Japan. At ‘Kakarot’ our bar, you can experience all the good stuff, ranging from anime, manga, workshops, cosplays, authentic Japanese cuisine and most importantly peers. We encourage you to even show up in your own costume to get an even more connected feeling to everybody else. Even for those that are’nt that much interested in anime, a visit at Kakarot will be a fun experience as you can find yourself in a Japanese city such as Akihabara or Harajuku, that has a very stereotyped but underrepresented image here in Switzerland. We want to focus on the café and bar life, not so much on the Japanese traditional food that is already quite well represented in a few restaurants in Zurich.
My half Japanese partner and me are both big fans of the Japanese culture, both traditional and new. Thus, we would love to make our dream come true by creating a space for people with the same interests to share experiences and ideas or simply relax and enjoy the vibe.

Please support our community. We will bring positive energy to everybody and our dream is to spread these themebars across Switzerland and Europe.

In order to have a loyal customer base, we believe that entertainment is a must and therefore think of offering diverse events throughout the year.
Not only the staff should wear cosplay but we also encourage our customers to come as their favorite characters. We believe that this would be very uplifting and give our guests a sense of “we” at Kakarot. We think of giving the guests that participate a little thank you in form of one free soft drink. If this doesn’t motivate people who usually already look for every opportunity to be “allowed” to cosplay, we don’t know what will.
As the whole industry is interrelated with different themes, it will be possible for us to organize lots of smaller events. For example, we could organize drawing/painting competitions and offer the winners to put their paintings on our wall at least (or possibly longer) until the next competition (like a wall of fame). This would expose smaller artists and also give everybody a bonding experience. The same could be done with cosplay contests where the best cosplayer gets their picture put on our wall for everybody to see. Other events could be diverse workshops for drawing mangas, cosplay workshops, cooking workshops and so forth. We believe that also more “neutral” customers will find something interesting to participate in and they even might find themselves a new hobby.
Of course, karaoke should not be missing. We are planning to give our guests the opportunity to book a private room as a group and enjoy some snacks and drinks, just like in Japan.

We know that not everybody lives near Zurich and thus cannot regularly visit us. However, supporting us and investing in a possivle future visit is still beneficial for you guys as:

First, we ant to share this concept with the whole world, and maybe in the near future, we might be able to open another location at your city.

Second, from a particular amount of donation, a surprise gift awaits you that will be shipped to you, even if you live at the other side of the globe.

With this, you can also benefit through your donation. If you later on have the opportunity to come visit us from far away, we're going to welcome you warmly with an extra drink for your effort.

Hi, my Name is Joel Kopp. Since I was little, I knew that I was going to open up my own business. I have a clear vision about this café. I want to grow with this café and reach the hearts of everyone as our café should be a space where people can immerse themselves into another world. It should thus be fun, interesting and adventurous.

Like a lot of students, I have struggled to find what kind of job I wanted to take on after my studies. I however am a creative mind and I therefore am not content to simply work in an office for a company my whole life. I want to create something from scratch. I have always felt that the modern Japanese culture has not been translated successfully enough to Switzerland and thus want to create my own space with Joel to bring a bit of my second culture to Zurich.
