Edible Plates

Reduce Plastic Use

Hend Al-Jawad

Project Overview

Edible plates are eco-friendly and suitable for consumption at picnics, outdoor activities, and camping. My project helps reducing plastic consumption and thusly minimise the greenhouse gases. I'm offering biodegradable cutlery and plates. This means that the materials can be composted after use - and eventually go back to being part of our environment. If necessary, the plates are even suitable for consumption.

Funding goals

  1. Stage 1:

    20.000 CHF

    0% funded

This amount is required to make the purchases and to cover transport and shipping costs. I also need a storage room to store the plates and cutlery until delivery.

  2. Stage 2:

    30.000 CHF

    0% funded

To sell my products, I need a car to transport the goods to the customers. I would also like to add other products to my range, such as edible snack boxes for kids, coffee plates, and spoons.
The online store should also continue to meet the essential requirements.

  3. Finish Stage:

    50.000 CHF

    0% funded

With this amount, my online shop will be financed and should be able to continue to grow in order to meet the sustainable requirements.

Hello everyone!

About 20 million tons of plastic enter our environment every year and harm animal life and human health. Especially plastic tableware, plastic cutlery, plastic bags, etc., since they are difficult to recycle. Plastic waste is often thrown into regular trash cans, and even those who care to dispose of their plastic correctly, that plastic will still contributes to global warming. Plastic waste ends up in incinerators and landfills, which is where it breaks down into tiny pieces, releasing greenhouse gases (GHG) that contribute to global warming.

The use of plastic tableware or polystyrene foam is not biodegradable, and it urgently needs to be reduced and ideally eliminated.

My plan is to get the products from Bio Fusion in Thalwil, which is the official partner of the Bioterm brand in Switzerland; the plates and cutlery are produced in Bioterm which is located in Poland.

My goals are:

• to reduce the consumption of plastic tableware and, to preserve the
environment for future generations

• to establish my own private business; an independent company that
aims for a more sustainable life.

My main sales channel will be an online shop, where you can purchase the products. I also plan to approach food trucks and party/festival planners to offer them my biodegradable tableware.

Thank you for your support!
