Dear supporters of the Uravu Bamboo Grove Resort,

We wish you and your families a happy and healthy New Year and all the very best for 2022!

Thanks to your support, the Uravu Bamboo Grove was able to renovate its cottages and build a small staff quarters. In October we were able to reopen the resort. Over the holidays in December we were very happy to welcome many guests from various parts of India. This provided an income to many families who are associated with us (cooking teams, guides, drivers, laundry services, etc.). We send you our warmest thanks for your support, without which this would not have been possible!

In February we will start the construction of the multifunctional restaurant. And, hopefully, if the pandemic allows it, we will organise the planned environmental activities with the schoolchildren.

We are optimistic that things will get better in 2022.

Dear supporters of the Uravu Bamboo Grove,

We are very happy to let you know that we have completed the renovation of three cottages and constructed a small new staff quarters. So, we are all set to reopen the Uravu Bamboo Grove Resort. Your support has helped us to do the renovation and construction works. And even more importantly, it has enabled us to pay the wages of the many bamboo artisans and craftspeople who were involved in the construction works throughout the pandemic.

We have decided to also construct a small staff quarters using traditional building materials and techniques to provide overnight accommodation for the caretaker. Now that we have renovated the cottages and built the staff quarters, we can reopen the resort this week. This will again provide an income to our cooking teams, guides, drivers from the village, etc.

Schools in Kerala are expected to reopen in November after having been online for 18 months. We are looking forward to the planned environmental activities with them.
The reopening of the resort is currently our main target, and the construction of the multi-functional restaurant will be the next one.

Thank you again for all your support! This has helped many families to get through the pandemic and avoid losing their incomes.

Thank you so much for all your support! We are thrilled that we have reached stage 2 with your help! We are very grateful to everyone who made a contribution.
The renovation works in the Uravu Bamboo Grove Resort are underway and can be continued and finalised, thanks to the funding from stage 1 of our crowdfunding campaign. We had hoped to be able to open two cottages to guests this month. Unfortunately, this may not be possible as the second wave of COVID is hitting India very hard at the moment. The situation in Wayanad is currently not as grave as in other parts of the country and work can still go on, which provides many workers and bamboo artisans with an income.
We are very happy that, with your support, we were able to raise the funds for the multi-functional restaurant (stage 2). Once it is built and operational, we can offer many activities both for the local people and our guests.

With your support we have completed the first stage of the crowdfunding for the Uravu Bamboo Grove Resort. We would like to thank you very much! We have already started the renovations of the cottages. With the financing from the crowdfunding we can complete this work and this will enable us to reopen the resort with two cottages. At the same time, we will be able to renovate the remaining cottages. The renovations will provide an income to the bamboo artisans and craftspeople of the region, as well as to some of the villagers once the cottages can be rented out again to future Indian and later also international guests.

We are currently in the final phase of our crowdfunding campaign, which will last for six more days. We are hoping to reach the funding goal for the second stage. This would enable us to build the multifunctional restaurant in which we plan to organise courses for guests and other interested people. The construction of the building will provide work to several craftspeople and villagers.

We made it to complete stage 1! Thanks so much to all of you! It is really great and we are thrilled that with your support we got the funds to complete the renovation works in the Uravu Bamboo Grove - Eco-friendly Community Tourism Resort! This will give work to bamboo craftsmen, masons and workers from the region. And we will be able to soon reopen the Uravu Bamboo Grove Resort. :-)
